REVIEW: Atkins Endulge Peanut Caramel Cluster Bar

Today's another day for an Atkins review! The subject we'll be focusing on today is this Endulge Peanut Caramel Cluster Bar. From its name and appearance, we can deduce that its a healthy, low carb alternative to a PayDay. But, you know, it just occurred to me- why does there have to be a healthy alternative to a PayDay? Why can't all PayDays be only 130 calories, have only 2g net carbs, and only contain 1g of sugar. Why do we have to be paying high prices for healthy candy alternatives, when all candy could be healthy? I mean, this system is an outrage! I DECLARE HERESY! (Or should I say HERSHEY? Nyuk nyuk nyuk!)   I mean, you might say that it's impossible for candy to be healthy! That's right! I'm starting a candy revolution! Viva La ResisTONCE! Let them eat healthy, reasonably-priced candy!
And you may say it's impossible for companies to make healthy candy and still make it in the food market, but I disagree. Atkins has proved that healthy candy can sell, as evidenced by this product right here! And there are other examples too! Maybe someday our shelves will be stocked with average price, healthy candy, but till' then, looks like we'll have to turn to the diet aisle for relief. I'm not scolding Atkins or the guys who make PayDays, just suggesting some forward-thinking is all.
Anyway, a 6 oz. box with five 1.2 oz bars costs around $4.88.
A 34g bar contains 140 calories, 90 of them being from fat, 10g of total fat, 3g of saturated fat, 0g of trans fat, <5mg of cholesterol, 180mg of sodium, 110mg of potassium, 13g of total carbohydrates, 6g of dietary fiber, 1g of sugar, 4g of sugar alchohols, and 7g of protein.

Okay, seriously, Atkins?! There are, like, seven peanuts on this WHOLE BAR. I get you're trying to be healthier, but c'mannnnnn. And is that golden stuff even caramel? I can't even tell. I mean, this bar looks NOTHING like how it's depicted on the box, right? Anywho, this is a small bar that is rather thick, and- this may just be because I had the bar sitting right on top of the ice pack in my lunchbox -but this bar is rather tough in texture and was hard to break apart

The amount of peanuts on this bar may have been small, but they were pleasantly salty and crunchy (Oh, but you can also buy these bars with unsalted nuts. Salted is probably yummier though. Just sayin'). The golden stuff on the outside of the bar was indeed caramel, and it was sweet, but at the same time kind of tough. The middle of the bar was soft, but I wasn't really sure what it was made up of- Oh never mind. Just looked it up. It was nougat. Okay! Overall, this bar was salty and sweet. and tasted like a PayDay, for real. And the amount of nuts may have been less than what someone is used to from a PayDay, but since this bar was so small, I got a taste of peanut in every bite. As long as the taste is there... no reason to go overkill!

Okay, three complications: One, this bar looks NOTHING like how Atkins has it pictured on the box. That's nearly false advertising. Two, this bar is strangely tough. No question about it. Even my mother was able to point it out. Three, "endulge" is not a word, Atkins. You dinguses. Other than that, this was an a-okay healthy PayDay alternative! Probably the best one I've ever tasted. Well... It's the only one I've ever tasted, to tell the truth. Anyway, I don't necessarily think you should try this bar regardless of if you are a PayDay fan or not, but if you are, then by all means! This is a great snack for the healthy-conscious PayDay lover. I could see myself buying this bar again.
I'd give Atkins Peanut Caramel Cluster Bar an 8/10.
