REVIEW: Fiber One Trail Mix Chewy Bar

I tend to stick away from trail mix-flavored granola bars; I'm not a big fan of the raisins and the cranberries and all that... Trail mix bars, in my opinion, are just too mainstream. Everybody sells trail mix-flavored granola bars. There are just more interesting flavors out there- why should I waste my time on trail mix bars? Booooooring.

However, on the other side of the equation, I love trying new products. See, if you're the one to review a new product first, then you're like the journalist who's got the scoop before anyone else!

So, when I saw that Fiber One had a NEW Trail Mix Chewy Bar, I was a little conflicted. It was new, but... It was trail mix-flavored, but... It was new....

So, if you can't tell already, my affinity for new food items ultimately won out over my disdain for trail mix-flavored bars. It's just... the NEW! on the box was calling out to me... Plus, these bars are covered in chocolate; how bad can they be? Well... my gut feeling better not fail me this time!

REVIEW: Kashi Honey Almond Flax Chewy Granola Bar

Have you ever tried Kashi's Honey Almond Flax Cereal? Well, I have! It was pretty okay. I gave it a 6.5. But Kashi also has Honey Almond Flax Chewy Granola Bars, and I got to thinking, "How do those taste?" Better than the cereal, or worse? So now I set out on another review to find out!

REVIEW: Atkins Endulge Peanut Caramel Cluster Bar

Today's another day for an Atkins review! The subject we'll be focusing on today is this Endulge Peanut Caramel Cluster Bar. From its name and appearance, we can deduce that its a healthy, low carb alternative to a PayDay. But, you know, it just occurred to me- why does there have to be a healthy alternative to a PayDay? Why can't all PayDays be only 130 calories, have only 2g net carbs, and only contain 1g of sugar. Why do we have to be paying high prices for healthy candy alternatives, when all candy could be healthy? I mean, this system is an outrage! I DECLARE HERESY! (Or should I say HERSHEY? Nyuk nyuk nyuk!)   I mean, you might say that it's impossible for candy to be healthy! That's right! I'm starting a candy revolution! Viva La ResisTONCE! Let them eat healthy, reasonably-priced candy!

And you may say it's impossible for companies to make healthy candy and still make it in the food market, but I disagree. Atkins has proved that healthy candy can sell, as evidenced by this product right here! And there are other examples too! Maybe someday our shelves will be stocked with average price, healthy candy, but till' then, looks like we'll have to turn to the diet aisle for relief. I'm not scolding Atkins or the guys who make PayDays, just suggesting some forward-thinking is all.

REVIEW: Fiber One 90 Calorie Chocolate Chewy Bars

I have tried the 90 Calorie Chocolate Peanut Butter Chewy Bars from Fiber One, and I have tried their Chocolate Caramel Pretzel Chewy Bars as well, so it'd make sense for me to try the last remaining flavor of 90 Calorie Bars: the classic Chocolate. It WOULD make sense, riiiiight? But I think I held off on trying these so long just because they ARE so... classic. As in, boring-sounding. Why settle for Chocolate when you can have Chocolate Peanut Butter, or even Chocolate Caramel Pretzel? I was so passive about actually trying these things that someone ELSE bought them for me. But since they're here now, sitting in my pantry, I can't really say NO to trying these things, now can I? Well, okay- I COULD, but I'm not one to say no to a granola bar, no matter how boring. Especially if said granola bar is only 90 calories.

REVIEW: Fiber One 90 Calorie Chocolate Caramel & Pretzel Chewy Bars

You know what someone ought to make? Chocolate AND caramel covered pretzels. Chocolate and caramel and pretzels HAVE been incorporated together in different ways, like in Takes 5's and plenty of desserts, but what about just plain ol' chocolate-caramel covered pretzels? You know? You already have this idea to combine all those ingredients there, so why not just put it into actual pretzel form? They might have already made chocolate-caramel covered pretzels SOMEWHERE out there, but I sure haven't seen em'. So... hop to it, you food companies.

REVIEW: Kellogg's NutriGrain Strawberry Cereal Bar

Okay, time for another Kellogg's NutriGrain review! Fun, right?! Cool review, right?! New product review, right?! Totally, right?! Oh yeah!!!

...Yeah, yeah, whatever- don't blame me for filler reviews- they gotta be done. I guess. Anyway, the last bar I happened to taste-test in the NutriGrain line was their Apple Cinnamon flavor, which was OK... But was, in essence, just that. O.K. Not impressive, but not horrible either. I suppose I thought that maybe it was just that specific flavor that wasn't pleasing my taste buds and that there was a great chance that SOME NutriGrain product out there could prove to be tastier, so I bought up a bar of their Strawberry variety.

REVIEW: Nature's Path Organic Sweet & Salty Mmmaple Pecan Chewy Granola Bars

So, dear readers: QUESTION TIME: How do you feel about ORGANIC granola bars? Me...? Well, the only organic kind I've ever tried- or at least even close to being called "organic" -is Kashi. And simply put, their granola bars didn't exactly give my taste-buds high hopes for the rest of the organic bar line. 

"So then, Ri," you then might proceed to say, "Why did you decide to do a post on an organic granola bar product today? You didn't make it sound like you were very interested in trying them."

Very true, dear readers! But sometimes, products just jump out at you so much that you just can't NOT buy them, no matter how uninterested in them some might expect you to be. ESPECIALLY if said product is in the dusty corner of the supermarket labeled "Reduced Produce."

Hahaha... What can I say? These Mmmaple Pecan Chewy Bars from Nature's Path Organic were going for less than HALF their original price! HALF, Jim!!! And I think the only problem with them was that the box was pretty dented. Yeaaaaah, theres a chance that they could be totally expired and harboring tons of flesh-eating bacteria, but I'm gonna take my chances! Adventurous eater, awaaaaaay!

REVIEW: Quaker Banana Nut Bread Soft Baked Bars

I like a nice hunk of banana bread every now and again, so it'd make sense for me to buy these Banana Nut Bread Bars from Quaker, right? That's what I thought, but it really was more of an impulsive buy. I mean, I like banana bread, but I like the homemade stuff, not some manufactured junk. Homemade banana bread tastes better and is real easy to make. So I guess I wasn't really thinking. But then again, if you asked me if I felt like making banana bread RIGHT NOW, I'd probably respond with a, "Gee.... I'd LOVE to, butttttt..... I kinda have stuff to do. Like watching videos. About video games. On Youtube."

So as you can see, I have a lot on my plate, and I suppose in the end, it WOULD make sense for me to buy manufactured banana bread!!!

...Ohhhhhh, who am I kidding? I'm just trying to reassure myself...

Review: Kashi Crunchy Granola & Seed Honey Oat Flax Bars

Recently, Kashi's released a whole new line of granola bars with the addition of seeds in them. Well, if you call two flavors a "line", that is. I reviewed one of the flavors so far- the Chocolate Chip Chia. They were a bit seed-like in taste to being with (well, dur-hur... they ARE seed bars), but all in all the taste was yummy and hearty enough to bring me back to try the other kind of new granola bar Kashi has released- their Honey Oat Flax Bars. Whereas the Chocolate Chip Chia Bars were made with... chia (dur), these Honey Oat Flax Bars are made with... flax. Hopefully you all deduced that for yourselves before I had to spell it out!

REVIEW: Kellogg's NutriGrain Chocolatey Crunch Chocolatey Chip Granola Bars

You remember those commercials Kellogg's released for their Fruit Crunch Bars awhile back? You know- the ones with the vampires? Oh yeah, they totally dug those NutriGrain bars. Cuz' that makes sense. Vampires LOVE eating herbivorous foods like fruits and oats. I guess in all seriousness it'd make sense for them to enjoy the Strawberry Parfait flavor, since vampires eat shades of red, but still. That strawberry bar is more of a pinkish hue. AT BEST. So why would vampires be so into these NutriGrain Bars? What is Kellogg's insinuating? Is there some secret ingredient in these that we are unaware of? 

Blood, maybe...?

No, no, that couldn't be- I mean, blood, come on. How could Kellogg's obtain such a thing as blood? It's not like there's gallons upon gallons to be found in every living thing on Earth or anything like that. Yeah, blood, haha- there's no way! That... couldn't...be... Buuuuuuuut...

It does seem a little odd for Kellogg's to just pull the idea of a commercial about vampires out of their heads like that... I mean, the commercial obviously wasn't meant to be FUNNY... So where did the idea for vampires come up from...? Maybe, just maybe...

No, nevermind. There's NO BLOOD in these things. There's not, there's not, there's not.

But just to be on the safe side, I'll try Kellogg's NutriGrain Chocolately Crunch Bars first- you know, the bars NOT advertised in the hidden-message vamp ads.

REVIEW: Kellogg's NutriGrain Fruit & Oat Harvest Country Strawberry Bars

Well, looks like I'm on an official quest to review each and every NutriGrain Fruit & Oat Harvest Bar!!! ...Which really isn't hard at all, considering there's only two of them...

So far.
Kellogg's more than likely'll make new Fruit & Oat Harvest Bar flavors, I'm hoping- Maybe a ...Radical Raspberry, or a Grape Goodness? And if you use these names, Kellogg's, I better get a slice of the pie, if you get my drift.

First I tried Kellogg's Blueberry Bliss flavor, and now I'm moving on towards the Country Strawberry. Why did I the blueberry first, may you ask? Well, I like blueberry better than strawberry, plain and simple. The slight tangy, sour undertones of the blueberry just bring more depth to the flavor than the sometimes overly-sweet strawberry can provide. But I don't harbor some strawberry prejudice either, so time to review this Fruit & Oat Harvest Bar's take on the berry.

Time for another Kashi review! Feel's like awhile since we've done one on here! (Took me FOREVER to stomach that box of Cherry Dark Chocolate bars... Blargh. I actually had to get my stepsister to eat a couple FOR me).

But, as the seasons change, Kashi consistently and steadily generates a slow stream of new product after new product, resulting in, I'm sure- new profit. Kashi's made crunchy granola bars before- akin to the ones by Nature Valley and such -but these new ones are different on account of them being Granola & Seed. See, even Kashi underlined it, right in the picture of the box up over yonder! And what seed shall you find in the bars I will be reviewing today? CHIA! C-C-C-Chia! I wonder if little sprouts will shoot out of these things if I sprinkle over them with water...

REVIEW: Fiber One Oats & Caramel Chewy Bar

Fiber One's Oats & Chocolate Chewy Bar is pretty mainstream: I've seen them available by the bar at gas stations, high school concession stands, standing at the grocery line while waiting to check out- you get the picture. Fiber One's Oats & Chocolate is a fairly popular snack bar, I guess. And for fair enough reason- I mean, I liked it. I'm sure most others do too.

But what about the other chewy bars Fiber One has released? Yes, there ARE others. They just have to be bought by the box. One of the different flavors happens to be this Oats & Caramel Bar. I wonder if it deserves to be the poster child of Fiber One's Chewy Bar line instead of the Oats & Chocolate? REVIEW: Kashi Cherry Vanilla Soft-Baked Cereal Bars

I've had good luck and bad luck with Kashi products. Their Banana Chocolate Chip Bar? Goood. Their Cherry Dark Chocolate Bar? Baaad. And these two snack bars are just an example of the black or white gradings Kashi tends to receive from me. What can I say? Their products are either hits or misses most of the time. Now I go on to try Kashi's Cherry Vanilla Soft-Baked Cereal Bar to see if its worthy of a goood grade or a baaad grade. One 7.2 oz. box containing six 1.2 oz. bars costs around $4.09.

REVIEW: Nabisco belVita Mixed Berry Soft Baked Breakfast Biscuit

Sometimes, in the morning, you need to whip up something quick and easy for breakfast if you want to make it to wherever you need to be...Like cereal! Cereal takes all of two minutes to prepare. But even if that's too much trouble, you can take one of these belVita Soft Baked Breakfast Biscuits out the door and along for the morning commute. An 8.8 oz. box containing five 1.76 oz. biscuits costs around $2.98.

As a kid, I think I was indifferent to the classic NutriGrain bars, at best. I didn't hate them, but I didn't love them either. We never really bought them or had them at the house, so naturally I didn't really eat too many of them. I suppose the only time I WOULD eat them would be when I was having a snack at a friend's house or something like that. So, for the first time in a very long time, I'll be trying out one of Kellogg's NutriGrain Cereal Bars. This Apple Cinnamon Bar was given to me by a friend at school, since they sell these in the school cafeteria. With this in mind, this bar is slightly bigger than the NutriGrain bars you would find in the store, so the nutrition facts will differ between the two bars. A 10.4 oz. box containing eight 1.3 oz. bars costs around $3.59.

REVIEW: Kashi Banana Chocolate Chip Soft n' Chewy Bar

Now, I've reviewed Kashi's Apple Cobbler Soft n' Chewy Bar, and also more recently their Berry Muffin Soft n' Chewy Bar, so now it's about time I try what I think to be the tastiest-sounding of the three: The Banana Chocolate Chip Soft n' Chewy Bar. Anything with chocolate in the name is way better sounding than anything with fruit in the name- at least in my fair opinion, but that's just me. I found the Apple Cobbler bar to be good, and the Berry Muffin bar to be meh, so we'll see if the Banana Chocolate Chip can grade even higher on the Sweet & SavoRi numminess scale. REVIEW: Quaker Blueberry Chewy Yogurt Granola Bar

Well, here was a review I wasn't even PLANNING on doing: See, I was sitting with a couple of friends during Literature class, and one of them grabs this Quaker Blueberry Yogurt Granola Bar from her backpack and holds it out, asking, "Anyone want this?" I DID, but I couldn't just TAKE IT, so I offered to trade. But after realizing their really wasn't anything in my lunchbox I wanted to give up,  I joked, "You want my carrots and cucumbers for it?" and to my disbelief, my friend said, "Yeah- cucumbers sounds really good right now."

Umm...
