I've reviewed belVita's new Soft Baked Breakfast Biscuits (both the Mixed Berry and the Oats & Chocolate varieties), which is all fine and good since those products are relatively new. However, I've never EVER reviewed the original belVita biscuits. In fact, I've never even TRIED them! Well, that just won't do! I believe in the phrase "better late than never", so here I am- at least trying these things now instead of never doing so.
A 8.8 oz. box with five 1.76 oz. packs costs around $2.98.
A 1 pack serving of four biscuits (50g) contains 230 calories, 70 of them being from fat, 8g of total fat, 0.5g of saturated fat, 0g of trans fat, 2g of polyunsaturated fat, 5g of monounsaturated fat, 0mg of cholesterol, 170mg of sodium, 110mg of potassium, 36g of total carbohydrates, 3g of dietary fiber, 13g of sugar, and 3g of protein.
These belVita biscuits are thin and firm, and resemble edible ovals. They're made with whole grain, and Nabisco doesn't fail to promote this by engraving a wheat border on each biscuit and giving them a tan hue.
When you open up a package of these belVitas. you are greeted by a strong whiff of apple cinnamon- like the type of scent from a pastry flavored as such. The taste of apples is strong enough to match up with the scent, but not so much the taste of cinnamon. I could barely taste the cinnamon. It was more like I was eating just "Apple" breakfast biscuits. At least these treats are sweet and have a good crunch to them.
To conclude, these biscuits are okay, but not amazing. Just OK. These are sweet enough, but they have their faults: The flavor of cinnamon is either overshadowed way too much by the apple, or either isn't present at all- I could't tell you for sure. These are a good snack if you want apple-flavored cookies/biscuits, but unless that's what you're in the mood for, you can skip these biscuits. I wouldn't buy them again.
I'd give Nabisco's belVita Apple Cinnamon Breakfast Biscuits a 5.5/10.
